Did you know that there are at least nine major faiths practised in Singapore? Do you know the history behind the many religious and historic sites scattered around Singapore?

That’s what the participants of our Fun on Foot treasure hunt set out to discover on 31 August 2003. If you missed the event, here is your chance to relive the experience with your friends or family members at your leisure.

What is Fun on Foot?
Fun on Foot was organised in conjunction with the National Heritage Board’s 10th Anniversary and to commemorate Racial Harmony Day.

Some 1,000 participants of all ages and across all races participated in this treasure hunt with a difference. Armed with a map and some clues, the teams set out on foot from Asian Civilisations Museum, Empress Place, in search of 10 religious and historical sites.

The treasure hunt was non-competitive in nature so participants could enjoy the sights and sounds along the way as they visited these places of worship and historic sites. In the process, they learned about the different religions in Singapore and a bit of their history.

The Fun on Foot route
The Fun on Foot route was specially designed and tested by staff of NHB’s Public Education Department to ensure that it could be completed at a leisurely pace within five hours.

The selected sites are a stone’s throw away from one another and they are still used for worship today by fellow Singaporeans.

You, too, can join us in exploring the rich heritage of these religions and sites.
