The youth growing up in the 1950s to 1970s Singapore faced a gamut of action and changes. There were student riots in the 50s, introduction of the black and white TV in the 60s and a prevailing flower power culture in the 70s. Through it all, the youth were busy growing up, studying hard, chasing fashion trends, idolising their favourite singer or sports hero and pursuing their dreams. As you take a glimpse into the world of youth from yesteryears, perhaps you may conclude that in many ways, they were not that different from the youth of today.
