Ancient Treasures from Myanmar

citiesandkings-1100x400

This exhibition, which ran from 2 December 2016 to 5 March 2017, introduced the art and culture of Myanmar through some of the country’s finest objects, selected from the National Museum Collections of Myanmar.

The works span three of the most significant eras in Myanmar history: the formative Pyu and Mon Period (4th–9th century), where early city-states emerged; the famed Bagan Period (9th–14th century), where Buddhist temple architecture flourished; and the Mandalay period (19th century), with its celebrated courtly arts.
