NAFA Installation - The Forbidden Bench

In collaboration with NAFA, NHB presents 10 virtual artworks by the students from the Fine Arts Faculty. Drawing inspiration from the history and heritage of Bras Basah.Bugis precinct, the students have created works that feature the lesser known stories of the precinct.

Title of Artwork: The Forbidden Bench

Artist: Norica

The Forbidden Bench is an installation that reflects on the history of Fort Canning, formerly known as Bukit Larangan.

Inspired by the old and rich history that took place on the land, this installation hopes to remind Singaporeans of the past while being able to look at the modern buildings from the hill on top.

This enormous bench acts as a pause button located at the top of the hill, overlooking the Bras Basah – Bugis district. With neon blue LED lights which represents the colour of Fort Canning’s MRT line, viewers will be able to be immersed under the bench with the bubble wrap effect shining on them.
