What do you get when you combine a child's natural love for treasure-hunting with heritage objects? Why, Singapore's Little Treasures, of course!
This pilot programme is a collaboration between NHB and ECDA (Early Childhood Development Agency) to equip pre-school teachers with the knowledge of Singapore’s shared history as well as strategies to promote heritage learning using specially-curated resources from the National Museum of Singapore. They will get an opportunity to work with museum educators on customising heritage lessons and museum visits to suit the learning needs and interests of pre-schoolers.
Inspired by the rich learning resources and collection from the National Museum of Singapore, the pre-school teachers will also be encouraged to develop their own heritage corner and heritage kit with items for pre-schoolers to handle and explore Singapore’s history in their own classrooms.
This programme is currently being offered as part of ECDA’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses, and supported by WSG’s SkillsFuture funding. Qualifying centres may claim up to 80% subsidy per teacher.
