This national monument, gazetted on 15 February 2006, first began operations as South East Asia's first car assembly plant. Today, it unveils a permanent WWII gallery featuring the exhibition "Syonan Years: Singapore Under Japanese Rule, 1942-1945".
This exhibition is a melting pot of our people's memories, experiences and stories of the period when Singapore was Syonan-to. Poised to fill the missing links in Singapore's WWII story, the gallery relays poignant stories of people's experiences during the Occupation years. Underlying these stories, inspiring lessons of perseverance, hope and creativity are waiting to be discovered.
