Mr Pitt Kuan Wah
Mr Pitt has a wealth of experience in archives management and practices, having worked with the National Archives of Singapore since 1983. He obtained his MA in Archives Administration and Records Management from University of London in 1989. In 1999, he was seconded to the Ministry of Information and the Arts as Deputy Director of Heritage Policy. He returned to NAS in 2000, and assumed directorship of NAS from 2002.
Mr Pitt is also representing Singapore as the current chair of SARBICA (Southeast Asia Regional Branch of the International Council of Archives) and is actively involved in the work of the international archival community. He has co-authored several books, including one on the history of Chinese opera and the other on the Japanese occupation of Singapore.
Dr Wang Liangcheng
Dr Wang is currently Head of Technique Division of the State Archives Administration of China (SAAC), since 1999.
He graduated from Wuhan University in 1982 and thereafter received training in archives conservation and preservation from the University of Manchester, UK. He later obtained his MSc in 1990 and PhD in 1993.
Dr Wang is actively involved in both national and international archives communities, and was among the key organizers and coordinators of 13th ICA Congress in Beijing in 1996. He was also a member of ICA Commission of Programme Management, CPM, from 1996-2004. He also wrote for some publications and contributed to the international and local scenes, in the areas of conserving and preserving traditional and electronic records.
Professor Wang Jian
Prof Wang is currently the Assistant Dean of the School of Information Resource Management (SIRM) at Renmin University of China (RUC) and is in charge of international cooperation.
She participated as a Steering Committee member of ICA/SAE since 2000. She was also involved as an executive organizer of the first Asia Pacific Conference on Archival Education (APCAE) held in Beijing in 2004. Prof Wang was actively involved as a Member of the Program Committee of IRMA (Association of Information Resources Management) since 2005 and is a core member of the National Documentation Standardization Technical Committee since 1996. She was a visiting scholar to the School of Information at the University of Michigan (2005-2006). She has been a Director of InterPARES 3 TEAM China since 2007.
Prof Wang researches and teaches in the field of electronic government and information management, electronic records management and documentation standardization. She has won awards for her outstanding achievements in both her research work and teaching.
Associate Professor Zhang Meifang
Assoc Prof Zhang currently heads the Information Resource Dept, Renmin University of China in Beijing. She is also the Vice Head of Archive Preservation Branch Commission of Chinese Archive Commission and Head of National Image Technology Standard Commission, and is an expert in ISO TC171 SC3.
Assoc Prof Zhang obtained her Bachelor of Science from the Biology Dept at Xinjiang University, Urumqi, China in 1986, Masters of Science in Biology from Northwest University, Xian, China in 1989, and her PhD from the Information Resource Dept at Renmin University of China, Beijing in 2003. She was a visiting scholar at Pittsburgh university from September 2006 to 2007.
In her teaching and research work, which was published locally and internationally, Assoc Prof Zhang has contributed in the following areas: image characteristic and preservation, paper and writing material preservation, map and digital preservation, archives conservation technology, paper preservation and cure of mould, restoring technology, and conversion of paper or film to digital medium.
Dr Michael S. Brown
Dr Brown is the Associate Professor at the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore. He received his PhD and Bachelors of Computer Science from the University of Kentucky in 2001 and 1995 respectively. His PhD thesis was focused on developing novel 3D imaging techniques for acquiring and digitally restoring medieval manuscripts housed at the British Library. He has continued this research over the years working on various imaging and restoration techniques for library and archival materials with the research focused on document binarization, ink-bleed correction, and hyper-spectral image analysis of archival materials. His overall research interests include image processing, computer graphics, and computer vision.
Mr Thomas Foo
Mr Thomas Foo has extensive knowledge and experience in micrographics services, equipment and supplies. He has worked with Kodak (Singapore) for 28 years as a Regional Technical Specialist, Regional Technical Manager and Regional Business Manager for their micrographic business in the Asia Pacific region. Mr Foo is also a member of the Technical Committee, set up by SPRING Singapore to draft the four Code of Practices for microfilm in 1998. The Technical Committee is chaired by Mr Pitt Kuan Wah, Director of the National Archives of Singapore.
Currently, Mr Foo is retired but continues to work closely with the National Archives of Singapore to provide technical assistance in their micrographic and imaging solutions.
