Engaging Our Community

Heritage is about people. Living and breathing, it is something that we experience collectively, and yet, is deeply personal at the same time. Drawing such connections between our national, community and personal histories is what underscores NHB's calendar of festivals and community outreach initiatives.

Our festivals, language campaigns, heritage trails, education programmes and community grants harness our partnerships with the community, establish long-standing relationships that allow us to collectively recognise and celebrate our shared heritage.

EDUCATION

We strive to spark an interest in, and encourage greater exploration and ownership of Singapore's heritage amongst Singaporeans. We reach out to school-going children and youth through fun and engaging educational programmes, and close, long-term collaborations with the Ministry of Education and schools. We also work with Singaporeans to co-create and contribute content on different aspects of our heritage, increasing the different heritage touch-points island-wide.

SILVER HUBS

Silver Hubs is an initiative of Our SG Heritage Plan. As part of its Silver Hubs initiative, the National Heritage Board (NHB) has been developing a range of signature, age-friendly programmes for seniors at NHB’s three Heritage Institutions (comprising the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, Malay Heritage Centre and Indian Heritage Centre) since 2018.

GRANTS

NHB's Grants Scheme aims to promote greater community ownership and participation in the creation of heritage content.
