National Heritage Board Scholarship

NATIONAL HERITAGE BOARD SCHOLARSHIP

The NHB Scholarship supports passionate individuals to pursue full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies (up to Masters) in various disciplines that will develop the skills for an exciting and meaningful career in the field of culture and heritage.

The areas of study may include:

  • Archaeology
  • Conservation
  • Curatorial Studies
  • Museum Studies / Education
  • Curatorial Studies
  • History (Singapore, Southeast Asia)
  • Cultural, Heritage Management

Upon the successful completion of your programme, you will be under the employment of NHB where you will be exposed to the different areas of our work.

  • For undergraduate studies, you will serve a bond of 4 to 6 years depending on your choice on the country of study.

  • For postgraduate studies, you will serve a bond of 2 years (for local studies) and 3 years (for overseas studies).

Eligibility

All Singaporeans are welcome to apply for the NHB Scholarship.

Applicants who are awaiting admission to tertiary institutions are also welcomed. However, proof of admission into the institution must be produced at the time of your scheduled interview.

If you are an undergraduate who has commenced your course of studies, with at least one semester of university results and not in your final year of studies, you may apply for a mid-term scholarship with us as well.

If your application is successful, you will serve a 1-year bond (for local studies) for every 1 year of study (capped at 4 years) or a 1.5-year bond (for overseas studies) for every 1 year of study (capped at 6 years).

You may not apply if you are receiving financial assistance from another institution or organisation.

Assessment Criteria

You would be assessed on the following criteria (in no order of priority):

  • Your academic records and participation in extra-curricular activities;
  • Benefits and value of the programme – how it influences the development of the heritage and culture sector in Singapore, and your personal development;
  • Your passion for heritage and culture;
  • Your achievements, track records and relevant experience (if any)

Applications for the 2023 NHB Scholarship are now closed. Only short-listed applicants will be notified. NHB reserves the right not to disclose the reasons for approving or rejecting any application, and to reject any incomplete application.
