NHB Scholarship

NHB Scholarship
The NHB scholarship scheme provides financial assistance for promising talents in Singapore to pursue full-time undergraduate or postgraduates studies in the fields of heritage and/or museum management or administration.

The grant is awarded only once for the duration of the study and is non-renewable. Grant quantum is 100% of study costs and is capped at a maximum of $100,000. Some of the areas of study allowed under the Scheme are:

· Conservation
· Museum Education
· General Museum Studies
· Curatorial Studies
· Museum Exhibition Design
· Archival Studies
· Art History
· Heritage Education


Upon successful completion of studies, the NHB scholar will be in the employment of NHB serving a 3-year bond on a full-time basis.

*Postgraduate studies refer to studies leading to a Master’s qualification and above.

Eligibility for Application
All Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents are welcome to apply for the scholarship. Applicants awaiting admission to their proposed institutions may also apply. However, proof of admission into the institution must be produced at the time of scheduled interview.

Applicants who are already in receipt of financial assistance from another institution or organization or have commenced their course of studies may not apply.

All employees of the National Heritage Board may not allowed to apply.

General Assessment Criteria
Eligible applicants will be assessed on the following (not in order of importance):

· Applicant’s academic records and participation in extra-curricular activities;
· Benefits and value of the studies to the applicant and to the development of the heritage and visual arts sector in Singapore;
· Applicant’s passion for the heritage and visual arts;
· Applicant’s achievements, track records and relevant experience (if any); and

How to Apply and Supporting Documents Required
Applicants can fill up and submit an online application via the CIS Website.

All information provided must be complete and true, and all requests for additional information should be promptly met.

The closing date of submission for all applications and submission of supporting documents is 15 March 2012.

Disbursement of Scholarship
Disbursement of scholarship may (at the discretion of the National Heritage Board) be made either in one lump sum or by instalments.

Selection Process
Short-listed applicants will be invited to attend selection interview sessions in May. Applicants successfully awarded the Scholarship will be informed of the award by June. All successful applicants are required to attend a Scholarship Award Ceremony in late July/early August.

Note
Only short-listed applicants will be notified of the results of their applications. The National Heritage Board reserves the right not to enter to disclose the reasons for approving or rejecting any application and to reject any incomplete application.
