Join us for our inaugural edition of Crossing Cultures, a new series that draws upon diverse Asian traditions of artistry and craft. Our theme for this first edition is rest, recharge, and resilience. Embark on a therapy trail in the galleries inspired by objects made for healing and wellness. Wind down with workshops and interactive talks on Asian health practices that promote good mental and physical wellbeing. Or, tune in to a multicultural music video that encourages calm reflection. Learn, explore, and create with us at ACM.

Singapore’s current Safe Management Measures (SMM) will be in effect. You will need to wear a face mask and remain in your personal group (max 5 pax). SMM subject to change.

Embark on this cross-cultural self-guided tour through ACM’s galleries. It will highlight objects that have been used for health and wellness purposes by Asian communities across time and space.

WEEKDAY WIND-DOWN SERIES: TCM SOUP FOR EMOTIONAL DETOX with Dr Xiang Jun

Dr Xiang Jun shares how our emotions are connected to different parts of the body, and about the need for detox. Then, learn more about traditional Chinese herbs, their health benefits, and where you can source and how to prep them before turning them into a nourishing soup.

Music can promote calmness and boost one’s mood. Experience the museum differently with this cross-cultural musical performance. Journey into the ACM galleries accompanied by beautiful melodies from the oud, pipa, bansuri, and morin khuur played by the talented musicians of Open Score Project.

CURATOR INSIGHTS: HEALING & PROTECTION IN THE ISLAMIC WORLD with Noorashikin Zulkifli

ACM’s Curator of Islamic Art, Noorashikin Zulkifli, will discuss objects on display to briefly survey healing practices as well as historical approaches to protection and prevention across the Islamic world. These include manuscripts that contributed to advancements in science as well as objects imbued with spiritual qualities such as magico-medical bowls and talismanic scrolls.

Dr Xiang Jun explains the five emotions in TCM and how common illnesses correlate to stress and emotions. Learn simple acupressure points and techniques to regularly release emotions and rebalance the body.
