Learn about why and how Hari Raya Puasa (also called Eid by many around the world) is celebrated in Singapore. Syed Hassan Al-Attas (fondly known as Habib Hassan), Imam of the Ba’alwie Mosque and member of the Presidential Council of Minority Rights, talks about why the festival is celebrated and what Muslims in Singapore practice during this period.

Drop-in Craft: Ketupat Weaving

Try your hand at the traditional art of weaving a palm-leaf ketupat at this drop-in craft activity. Ketupat is a traditional rice dish commonly eaten on Hari Raya, created by steaming the rice in a woven palm-leaf wrapper (a ketupat!). Find out about how these intricately woven ketupat are made and bring home your own creation!
What’s Cooking? Hari Raya Cooking Demonstration with Ruqxana Vasanwala

Join Ruqxana Vasanwala of Cookery Magic in this festive cooking demonstration! Learn about the Dawoodi Bohra community and their Eid traditions as the personal chef and cooking instructor introduces you to a traditional sweet treat made for this holiday among her small but prominent community. Participants will get to bring back and try this dessert as part of the celebration!

Revisit ACM galleries with one of our docents on this special guided tour, which will focus on objects related to Islamic art and culture to commemorate the festival of Hari Raya Puasa. Limited spaces available. Participants must observe safe management measures.
