Distinguished Supporter of Heritage
Saigon Chettiars Temple Trust
The Saigon Chettiars Temple Trust has generously loaned a collection of deity jewellery to the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC).
In the late 19th and early 20th century, the jewellery was donated, for alamkara, or ornamentation of deities, to the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), by the Nattukottai Chettiar community who settled there. The Thendayuthapani temple, established about 200 years ago, is one of the three oldest Indian temples in Ho Chi Minh City. The generous loan has allowed for a more comprehensive cultural narrative at the Indian Heritage Centre for the public to learn from.
