Architecture Meets Art: Hanging Bridge

Architecture Meets Art: Hanging Bridge

Manny Padernos’ structure is inspired by the traditional Filipino sleeping mats, banig. Weaving paper and twine, he draws from his personal history, investigating themes of displacement, migration, and memory. Padernos completed his Master of Fine Arts at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture, New York in 2018. During this time, between 2017 – 2019, he was also the artist in residence at Vermont Studio Centre, Kimmel Harding Nelson, Chautauqua, Chashama North, Wassaic Project, and Hercules Art Studio Program in New York. Before his progression into the arts, Padernos was an interior designer for 18 years. His innovative approach, passion for design, and his eye for detail enabled him to hone his creative skills and talent as an installation artist.
