Now Boarding Closing Weekend Programmes

Last call, before the gate to Now Boarding: Experience Singapore through Travel, 1800s – 2000s closes!
The museum is counting down and bidding adieu to our travel themed exhibition, Now Boarding, with a series of programmes on 24 February curated for everyone. Programme highlights for the day include workshops, a music performance and a virtual reality flight simulator. Round off your experience of Now Boarding at night with a special Silent Disco party!

Admission to all galleries and exhibitions are free for all on this day.
Charges are applicable to certain programmes. Please note that photos will be taken for all programmes and may be used for future publicity.


Send a postcard to anywhere in the world

Available till 25 February or while stocks last

Visitors can also look forward to the nostalgic experience of sharing travel stories with their loved ones through a postcard-writing activity.

A limited-edition postcard – reproduced from the National Museum’s collection with the original on display within the exhibition – is available with a donation to the museum. With support from Singapore Post Limited, these postcards can be sent to anywhere in the world via the Singapore Post mailbox outside the exhibition gallery.

Experience a unique silent disco party in a museum! Join us on your own or enjoy a special price when you come with a friend and get ready to enjoy a night of grooving. With customised playlists to choose from, you can jive to the music and light up the ‘dance floor’ in the museum gallery.

Limited spaces available. This programme is suitable for ages 13 and above. Registration will start 30 minutes before at the Rotunda.

Drop-in craft activity: Hama Bead Keychain

Using Hama beads, craft a keychain inspired by transportation in Singapore!

Limited to ONE keychain per pax. This programme is recommended for families with children ages 6 and above. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. While stocks last.
VR Flight Sim

Virtual-reality Flight Simulator

10.30am – 6pm | Free

Embark on an exhilarating flight journey with this simulator and experience the thrill of aviation as you take on the role of a pilot!

Each session will last up to 3 mins. To ensure that all participants have a chance to experience the simulator, you are encouraged to only try one session at a time. If you wish to do multiple sessions, you are required to join the queue again. Please adhere to the instructions and directions from crew and staff onsite.


Music Performance by The Apex Project

4.30 – 5pm | The Platform, Level 2 | Free

Groove to familiar Singapore tunes and an exciting beatbox session with The Apex Project. Feel free to sing and dance along to their local repertoire!

About the performers
Award-winning The Apex Project is known for its theatrical twist to pop and jazz standards. Together, the five-piece outfit has set its sights on breaking the boundaries of a cappella and bringing a fresh perspective to vocal music.

A Lighter Side of History: Why Singapore Icons? [FULL]

Souvenirs that feature Singapore icons are popular gifts for both tourists and locals alike.

Join Meiling, co-founder of the Supermama stores at the National Museum and Asian Civilisations Museum, as she shares insights on the inspiration behind the use of Singapore icons for their products. You will also get to create an acrylic keychain based on the Sights and Shopping theme from the Now Boarding exhibition as a keepsake!

Programme is suitable for ages 13 and above. Price includes sharing session and materials for one acrylic keychain.

Visit our permanent galleries with your little ones and play spot-the-artefact! Our colourful Early Learning Resources introduce pre-schoolers to our artefacts according to the themes of Numbers, Colours, and ABCs. Available at $8 per set from the Museum Label shop.
