Senior-friendly DIY Entertainment Paper Towns

4 January ,Thursday | 10am – 11.30am

Join us for a session of reminiscence, imagination and creativity this Quiet Morning with Eco Artist Janel Ang! In this 1.5-hour session, seniors will enjoy revisiting memories of yesteryear’s leisure and entertainment places like Haw Par Villa and Jurong Bird Park as well as amusement parks such as Universal Studios Singapore and the now-defunct three Worlds. Be inspired by these icons and design and build your own mini upcycled amusement park or building.

This programme is part of the museum’s Quiet Morning activity offered every first Thursday of each month, and is presented in conjunction with the museum’s special exhibition, Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s–2000s.

Join the museum’s Care Facilitators on an in-person conversational tour of Now Boarding!

The tour is designed just for seniors, including persons with dementia and their accompanying care partner. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences and stories while exploring familiar items from the museum's collection. Limited capacity based on first come, first served basis.

    Interested to learn something new or experience an afternoon of ballroom dancing followed by teatime snacks? Join us for a tea dance workshop with instructors from The DanceSport Academy. In this 1.5-hour session, participants will enjoy a 1-hour guided ballroom dance class, followed by teatime in Reunion.

    This programme is designed for seniors, including those living with mild cognitive impairment and dementia. All seniors living with dementia, or any other additional needs, should be accompanied by a caregiver for the programme.

    Pre-registration is required.

    About The DanceSport Academy

    Recognized for its specialised training in Latin & Standard Ballroom, The DanceSport Academy is one of Singapore’s highly regarded dance academies. The academy is a dynamic hub that focuses on dance creativity and proper techniques in an environment that provides work-life balance, health and fitness awareness, confidence and self-esteem. Serving Singapore’s Active Agers, the programme is tailored as a lower impact physical activity for seniors to make the most out of the ballroom, from improving muscle and bone strength to lowering the risk of falling and exhaustion.

    Visit our permanent galleries with your little ones and play spot-the-artefact! Our colourful Early Learning Resources introduce pre-schoolers to our artefacts according to the themes of Numbers, Colours, and ABCs. Available at $8 per set from the Museum Label shop.
