Experience old world wisdom through the digital lens of today, as early Chinese and Pacific Island cosmology inspires New Zealand arts laureate Daniel Belton and Good Company Arts to present Astrolabe – whakaterenga (meaning “to launch, float” in Maori).

Experience the work through Virtual Reality (VR), watch filmed dancers work the moving star charts like ancient space mariners; and navigate the immersive digital arts space with film projection, soundscape and 3D-printed sculptures.

This work was created in collaboration with 15 artists across the fields of film, dance and sound from 6 countries, including Singaporean composer and sound artist Joyce Beetuan Koh and dancer Jill Goh. Supported by DigiMuse and Creative New Zealand, catch the world premiere of Astrolabe – whakaterenga at the National Museum of Singapore till 5 Jan 2020 from 10am to 7pm daily and celebrate the work’s themes of exploration, connection to nature and the fluidity of time.
