It's our birthday and you are invited! Come dressed in a 1970s–1990s retro-inspired outfit and visit the museum for a fun-filled day of exciting activities.
Embark on a ‘tech’ quest through our OFF / ON: Everyday Technology that Changed our Lives, 1970s – 2000s showcase and redeem a complimentary goodie, or join one of our craft workshops to make nostalgic crafts such as friendship bands. Don't forget to treat yourself with some retail therapy at 13 specially curated pop-up retail booths!

Free Old School Snacks Redemptions

As part of our 135th anniversary celebrations, visitors can redeem complimentary delicious retro snacks at the following timings:

  • 1pm: A slice of your old-school flavoured cake
  • 3pm: Craze Hottis
  • 5pm: Kacang Putih

  • Redemption is on a first-come, first-served basis, while stocks last. Limited snacks are available per day.

    Off / On: Everyday Technology that Changed our Lives, 1970s – 2000s Showcase Quest

    Redeem a quest card at our event booth and visit the showcase to find the answers! Visitors will receive a small tech-inspired gift when they successfully return the completed quest card at the following timeslots:

  • 11am -1pm: Personalised typewritten poem from The Novel Encounter

  • 1pm - 3:30pm: Customised pop socket

  • 3:30pm - 6pm: Old-school water ring handheld game

  • Redemption is on a first-come, first-served basis, while stocks last. Limited quantities are available per day.

    Join our exclusive craft workshops to make your very own scrapbook or friendship band! Kindly approach our friendly staff at the event booth to register your slot, subject to availability.

    Browse handmade crafts and more by our local brands and bring home a treat or two for yourself and your loved ones.

    Family Time

    Visit our permanent galleries with your little ones and play spot-the-artefact! Our colourful Early Learning Resources introduce pre-schoolers to our artefacts according to the themes of Numbers, Colours, and ABCs. Available at $8 per set from the Museum Label shop.     NMS Travels: Pop-Up Rooms, Audio Tour & Sorbet Giveaway

    In celebration of the nation’s 58th birthday, the National Museum of Singapore will house two new pop-up rooms that will complement the ongoing NMS Disco Room and offer visitors a glimpse into some of the popular sights around Singapore in the 1980s.

    Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s – 2000s

    Hop aboard the National Museum of Singapore’s ‘flight’ to discover Singapore through a travel-themed exhibition that traces the evolution of Singapore’s identity as a popular travel destination, through the eyes of those who arrived at our shores from the past to the present.
