Introduction to Wagashi Art

Introduction to Wagashi Art [SOLD OUT]

Sat 7 Jan 2023 | 2pm – 5pm | The Salon, Level 1
Recommended for ages 13 and above | $35 per pax

Create a feast for the eyes and a treat for the palate with simple ingredients like azuki beans, kidney beans, sugar, and glutinous rice flour. Wagashi, or traditional Japanese confectionery, is much more than a sweet treat to go with a bowl of matcha (green tea). It is an art form that embodies the changing seasons of Japan.

Through this workshop, participants will gain a basic overview of nerikiri, one of the many forms of wagashi, and bring home sweets made by their own hands.

Register now at https://nms-wagashiart.peatix.com.

Photo is for illustration purposes only and may differ from actual wagashi created during the workshop. The tools provided are not included in the cost of ticket and will need to be returned to the facilitator after the workshop.

About the facilitator
Nadiah was first introduced to wagashi through Japanese anime and manga. She was captivated by the artistry and craftsmanship that went into a simple piece of confectionery. Her interest has led her to pursue several wagashi instructor certifications from the Japan Salonaise Association. She enjoys making wagashi as a hobby and to express herself creatively and connect with other Japanese cultural enthusiasts.
