Participants will also learn how to prepare Chicken Rendang from scratch for the upcoming festive favourite in this workshop for their loved ones at home.

What started as a daughter’s wish to give a meaningful gift for her mother’s 70th birthday has turned Gladys Foo, a self-taught cook and bubbly mother of two into a business owner running a successful home-business, Kuehdys Foo, earning mentions on local lifestyle blogs and The Sunday Times.

She recounts her memories of learning how to make these traditional treats through trials of family recipes and research on cookbooks and food websites. Don’t miss her food demonstration on ang ku kueh, the kueh that started it all!

A Love for Kueh: Preserving Teochew Delights with Yoon’s Traditional Teochew Kueh

Yoon’s Traditional Teochew Kueh was started by a mother-daughter duo who endeavour to preserve Teochew delights. In this talk, learn how tiam tor (traditional sweet kueh) is made, starting with an introduction on kueh heritage to making the filling, cooking the skin, “kupping” techniques and steaming. The first 40 viewers to submit all correct answers to a quiz at the end will receive a doorstep delivery of a special goodie bag* containing 5 pieces of tiam tor, 1 traditional kueh mould and a recipe sheet!

Established in 1964, Geylang Briyani Stall has been serving authentic chicken and mutton briyani at the iconic Geylang Serai market. Started by Mr Hamid, this stall spans over three generations and is now run by his grandson, 31-year-old Hannan, who has chosen to continue the family business over a career in mechatronics. Hear their stories as they share their experiences of running and maintaining this business legacy and just what makes their briyani so well loved by locals.
