Ignite your festive spirit when you join us for Hari Raya at the National Museum of Singapore! Reunite with your families and friends, and celebrate Hari Raya with exciting activities crafted just for you!

Join us for a fun and enjoyable celebration of Hari Raya at the museum!


Discover the various aspects of Hari Raya in a quest of our galleries or treat yourselves to an entertaining performance by Juz-B, a local a capella group. Learn about the evolution of Hari Raya fashion over the years as you create your own kerongsang (brooch) that is inspired by our collection. 


For the young ones, hear about Maryam, a seamstress who is busy sewing baju kurung (traditional Malay dress) in a storytelling session or create kerongsang at our drop-in activity corner. 


Please note that photos taken during the programmes may be used for future publicity.



Hari Raya 2023 Storytelling

Interactive Storytelling: Baju Raya Saya! (My Raya Clothes)

$10 Per Adult-child Pair

Meet Maryam, a seamstress who is busy sewing Hari Raya clothes for customers at her shop. Learn about the different types of baju raya that Singaporeans wear during the festive period, and help Maryam design a baju kurung for herself!

Things To Note
- Limited spaces are available on-site.
- The price includes one set of craft materials.
This programme is recommended for families with children aged between 5 – 8 years old.

- The session will be conducted primarily in English, with some Malay words introduced to participants.

We Celebrate: Hari Raya

Go on a quest of our galleries, solving clues to discover the different aspects of Hari Raya. A tasty treat awaits participants who complete the quest! 


Things To Note
Suitable for participants aged 13 and above. Children aged 12 and below are welcome and must be accompanied by their parents. 

- The station will be closed for lunch from 12 – 1.30pm.
- Final registration will be at 5.30pm and the redemption counter will close at 6.15pm.
Registration via Peatix is encouraged. Walk-in participation is subject to availability.

Hari Raya 2023 Drop In Craft

Drop-in Craft Activity: Beautiful Brooches

Saturday, 29 April 2023
10.30 – 11.30am (priority slot for people with disabilities)
11.30am – 12.30pm, 2 – 5pm (for public)
Glass Atrium, Level 2 | Free

Brooches or kerongsang are commonly worn by both men and women during Hari Raya. Get inspired by the brooches in our collection and make your own brooch using colourful felt and glittery foam. Add that extra sparkle with sequin stickers, and if you’d like to, turn your artwork into an actual wearable accessory with the optional pins provided!

Things To Note
- This programme is recommended for both adults and families with children aged 4 and above.
- Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
- The station will be closed for lunch from 12.30 – 2pm.
- Slots are limited and on first come first served basis.

Hari Raya 2023 Music Performance

Music Performance by Juz-B

Saturday, 29 April 2023 | 4.30–5pm
The Platform, Level 2 | Free

Be entertained by a capella group Juz-B, who will be performing a medley of festive favourites and debuting an exclusive, original composition during this performance. Hear from them about the celebration of Hari Raya, participate in a quiz and stand to win prizes from the museum. 

Biography of performers
Juz-B is a local group formed in 1995, made up of passionate and talented young men who love singing. Known for their soulful performances, this award-winning group bagged new awards at the 2nd Asian a capella Festival and captured the hearts of a capella supporters overseas when they were invited to perform for the ASEAN Summit in Nanning. 

Hari Raya 2023 LSOH

[Postponed Till Further Notice] A Lighter Side of History: A Fashionable Raya

Saturday, 29 April 2023 | 2 – 4pm
The Salon, Level 1
$35/pax or $60/pair

Hari Raya is a time of celebration and celebrants dress up in colourful, bright costumes such as kebaya and kurung for the women and cekak musang (“fox’s leash” collar) for the men.

In this special programme, hear from RENTA Collective as they share about the different baju (clothing) that men and women wear for Hari Raya and how the fashion has evolved into various styles and patterns over the years.

Complementing the talk is a workshop where you can make a brooch to take home and add to your accessory collection.

- This programme is recommended for participants aged 13 and above.
- The price includes a presentation, hands-on workshop, and materials required for the workshop.

Visit our permanent galleries with your little ones and play spot-the-artefact! Our colourful Early Learning Resources introduce pre-schoolers to our artefacts according to the themes of Numbers, Colours, and ABCs. Available at $8 per set from the Museum Label shop.
