Celebrate our nation’s 58th birthday with family and friends and participate in the myriad of activities featuring Singapore’s icons, local talents and special exhibitions at the museum.
Look out for an exciting performance, drop-in activities, storytelling sessions and scavenger hunt. End the day with a "picnic-under-the-stars" and catch the live outdoor screening of the National Day Parade at the museum’s front lawn.

In the lead-up to National Day, look out for our special façade light-up. Don’t forget to tag us on social media when taking photos with #NationalDayatNMS.

Kindly note that parking lots are limited onsite and visitors are strongly encouraged to seek alternative parking arrangements around the vicinity. Please note that photos and videos taken during the programmes may be used for future publicity.

Catch the museum come alive with a façade projection that will bath the building in colours and symbols that represent Singapore. Don’t miss a special feature created in commemoration of Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s 100th birth anniversary, honouring Singapore’s founding prime minister and his enduring contribution to Singapore.

    Catch this unique installation by local artist Adeline Loo that represents how we are stronger when united – akin to how individual threads can become one strong rope. The design of the Bridge draws inspiration from the idea of building a Singapore that looks beyond differences and continues to strengthen our ties with one another.

    Let's come together to cook up a pot of chicken curry like the good old kampung days to feast on this National Day!

    Bring your family, come in pairs as inter-generational group. Learn from Chef Franz, master baker from Austria, who has spent over 20 years in Singapore, as he demonstrates how to cook all-time favourite chicken curry that is well liked by Singaporeans.

    Limited slots available. This programme is recommended for parent/grandparent with children ages 6 years and above. Price includes a sharing session, hands-on demo by Chef Franz and two sets of curry chicken (retail at $25) to take home.

    Grandparent-grandchild pair ticket is priced lower than the standard adult- child pair ticket to encourage participation from grandparents and grandchildren.     Jio-ing (inviting) all kopi drinkers! Join us at the museum this National Day as we find out more about Singapore’s traditional coffee culture. Learn how to make your own pot of traditional kopi, and the ordering lingo used in Singapore’s coffeeshops.

    About the facilitator
    Nanyang Old Coffee is dedicated to sharing the exquisite taste and cultural significance of traditional Singaporean coffee with the global community. In response to evolving consumer preferences, they have strategically transformed their cafe over the years, enabling them to expand their business model through overseas franchising.     Unleash your creativity in this colouring competition featuring our local neighbourhood!

    This competition is open to 50 children, aged 6 to 13 years. Participants may bring your own colouring materials (dry materials only, no paint allowed) or purchase a colouring pack at $5, while stocks last.

    The programme and prizes are supported by STAEDTLER. Onsite registration is available, however pre-event registration is encouraged to secure your spot due to the capacity limit.

    Merchants of Singapore: A Participatory Character Tour [SOLD OUT]

    Throughout Singapore’s history, many have come to Singapore in search of business opportunities, a new life, or a brighter future.

    In this participatory character tour, we invite you to “travel” back in time where you will encounter two travellers from different backgrounds with a common goal.

    Limited spaces available. Onsite registration is available however, pre- event registration is encouraged. This programme is suitable for all participants from ages 13 and above. Please note that this is a participatory tour where some members of the audience will be invited to assume roles of historical figures.

    The characters presented are inspired by historical figures but creative direction and licenses have been taken to fit the storyline.

    Visit our permanent galleries with your little ones and play spot-the-artefact! Our colourful Early Learning Resources introduce pre-schoolers to our artefacts according to the themes of Numbers, Colours, and ABCs. Available at $8 per set from the Museum Label shop.
