Catch the façade projection at the National Museum of Singapore as it lights up in celebration of Singapore’s 56th birthday with the theme Together Our Singapore Spirit!

From now to 31 August, please be advised to enjoy the light-up in pairs only and in groups of up to five for fully vaccinated individuals, remain masked up at all times and to practice a 1 metre safe-distancing at all times. Visitors may be reminded by an onsite crew to observe the guidelines while visiting the light-up.

dough it yourself curry puff

Dough-It-Yourself Curry Puff Workshop [Sold Out]

$10 per adult-child pair, all ingredients and equipment provided

How much do you know about the modest curry puff that is often eaten during festive seasons and as a mid-day snack? Join Bakery Brera to find out more and learn how to fold your own curry puffs using different types of dough. Participants will also get to take home a set of cooked curry and sardine puffs from the bakery at the end of the workshop.

Please note that no pork and no lard are used in this workshop. Families are encouraged to bring your own lunchboxes to store the uncooked and cooked curry and sardine puffs.

Each $10 ticket admits one child and one adult (parent or grandparent) only. This is a special rate for our National Day celebrations.

For the morning session: Registration starts from 10.40am. Please arrive at the Salon by 10.50am, otherwise your slot will be released to walk-in participants.
For the afternoon session: Registration starts from 3.10pm. Please arrive at the Salon by 3.20pm, otherwise your slot will be released to walk-in participants.

Create your own National Day momento to commemorate your visit to the museum! Express your creativity by painting a Merlion figurine that is uniquely yours and show off this one-of-a-kind figurine at home.

Each participant will receive an individual brush and paint set. This activity is recommended for children aged 6 years old and above. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Interactive Storytelling – Timmy & Tammy: What is Singapore? [Sold Out]

In this interactive storytelling session based on the popular children’s book Timmy & Tammy: What is Singapore?, families will hear from four interesting characters who have each chosen an object to represent Singapore. Look forward to participating in the fun activities these characters have prepared in their quest to decide which “Singapore” resonates best with them!

Coffee Appreciation NDOH

Coffee Appreciation Workshop [Sold Out]

What is the difference between specialty coffee and your daily cup of kopi-o-siew-dai? Have you ever wondered what is the difference between Robusta and Arabica beans? Join us for a fun session to hear, smell and lim kopi (drink coffee) with your family and friends, as the friendly barista from social enterprise Bettr Barista unravel the history of coffee in Singapore!

Limited spaces available. Enjoy a special discount if you come with your family or friend. This programme is suitable for all participants from ages 13 and above.

Price includes the coffee appreciation workshop, sampling of small cup of coffee, 1 box of 10 sachets of Single Drip Coffee (retail price $19). This programme is held in conjunction with National Day and the exhibition Home, Truly: Growing Up with Singapore, 1950s to the Present.

NDOH Art as Therapy

Art as Therapy Workshop – Feeling at Home [Sold Out]

This Art as Therapy workshop is designed for families and members of the general public, and aims to encourage participants to reflect on and creatively express what places and experiences make them “feel at home” in Singapore.

The session begins with a guided visit to our two special exhibitions − Home, Truly: Growing Up with Singapore, 1950s to the Present and Picturing the Pandemic: A Visual Record of COVID-19 in Singapore − where our docents will introduce fascinating artefacts about Singapore as our home.

Participants can then enjoy a therapeutic origami box art-making activity, and draw inspiration from the exhibitions to express their ideas and feelings about “home” using STAEDTLER materials.

Limited spaces available. Price is inclusive of guided tour by docents, facilitated origami box art-making activity and colouring materials supported by STAEDTLER.

This programme is suitable for all participants aged 7 and above and is held in conjunction with the exhibitions Home, Truly: Growing Up with Singapore, 1950s to the Present and Picturing the Pandemic: A Visual Record of COVID-19 in Singapore. This programme is supported by STAEDTLER and ArtWorks.

About ArtWorks
ArtWorks provides art therapy services and wellness workshops to individuals, schools, museums, and corporate clients. Founder Kelly Reedy (MA AT, AThR, MA Ed, BFA) has over 20 years of experience working in Singapore as an artist, educator, and most recently, art therapist. Currently a part-time lecturer in the MA in Art Therapy Programme at LASALLE College of the Arts, her past projects include training art teachers at the National Institute of Education, creating gallery workshops for NTU Centre for Contemporary Art, as well as engaging with youth-at-risk and adults experiencing dementia. Through her private practice, she facilitates nature-based workshops for parent and child bonding, self-compassion seminars for caregivers, and relaxation through art for busy professionals. ArtWorks’ aim is to enhance wellbeing, awareness, and learning for all.
