An immersive trip down memory lane
Explore our travel-themed pop-up rooms (travel lounge, hotel and disco) around the museum's spaces that further bring the travel experience in Singapore in the 1980s to life! Entry to the pop-up rooms are free with general admission to the museum.
Audio Tour: That Weekend in the Lion City
Accompanying the pop-up rooms is an immersive audio tour that will take visitors on a self-guided exploration of the three spaces, through the recollections of a first-time traveller to Singapore in the 1980s. Titled ‘That Weekend in the Lion City’, the audio tour features engaging dialogue and soundscapes, whisking visitors on a whirlwind adventure across the island to experience the vibrant and bustling scenes of yesteryear Singapore.
At the end of the tour, visitors are encouraged to continue their exploration at the Now Boarding exhibition, and complete the protagonist’s story by solving a mystery. Entries with the most creative responses will stand to win a range of exciting prizes, including a 2D1N staycation at Goodwood Park Hotel, set dinners, buffet offerings and hotel gourmet card memberships. The audio tour will be available from 4 August till 19 November.

NMS x Kind Kones: NMS Sorbet Giveaway

Celebrate the National Museum of Singapore’s 136th birthday with a scoop of ‘mystery flavour’ NMS sorbet!
Inspired by the food and beverage section in our ongoing exhibition, Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s – 2000s, we worked with Kind Kones to bring you a refreshing vegan treat featuring a flavour derived from one of the plants in our prized William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings. If you have any dietary restrictions, please approach our booth staff for clarifications.
To redeem a free scoop: Take a picture in the Now Boarding exhibition, post it, tag us, and show it to us at our booth at Glass Atrium, Level 2.
To participate in the gift voucher giveaway: Submit your guess via our Google Form at the redemption booth. Five lucky visitors who can guess the correct flavour of our NMS sorbet will also receive a $20 gift card courtesy of Kind Kones! Follow our social media posts and we will reveal the mystery flavour after the event! The NMS sorbet will also be available for purchase at Kind Kones from 9 October onwards for a limited time.
