Film Programme

A New Spirit in Film: A Founders’ Memorial x Honour Singapore Programme
29 July 2023, Saturday | 3.00 pm - 5.30 pm | Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore

Join us for an afternoon of reflection and thought-provoking conversation as you enjoy a series of curated short films from the Honour Film Initiative, followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers and featured personalities! The selected films tie back to the key themes of the Founders' Memorial's pilot exhibition “Semangat yang Baru: Forging a New Singapore Spirit”. We invite you to discuss the expression of Singapore’s founding values in the past, present, and future, and find inspiration for the way forward as a nation.

Conversations

A New Singapore Spirit: Let’s Talk About It

If you could make a list of the “top hits” in Singapore’s nation-building journey, what would it be? How would you draw on the “powers” of your fellow citizens to overcome a crisis together? This special programme invites you to explore the Semangat yang Baru: Forging a New Singapore Spirit exhibition and reflect on the forging of the new Singapore spirit through your own eyes. You will get to (re)visit the exhibition, draw inspiration from the artefacts and stories within, play a game, interact with fellow participants, and maybe even leave the programme with newfound friends!

This programme is presented by the Founders’ Memorial. By learning more about what “Semangat yang Baru” means to you and fellow Singaporeans, we hope to gain insights into the diverse perspectives of exhibition visitors, as we deepen public engagement in the ongoing development of the Founders’ Memorial.
