Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of individuals and community groups step forward to play an active role in preserving our shared heritage. The NHB Heritage Grant Scheme has provided support for these heritage enthusiasts to develop heritage-related projects that seek to preserve and promote Singaporeans’ appreciation of heritage.

DragonFire Singapore by Carolyn Lim is an interactive e-book app that celebrates the culture of wood-firing through the lens of Thow Kwang Dragon Kiln. Featuring interactive rotation of wood-fired pieces, the e-book brings to life the process of pottery-making from clay to the finished wood-fired piece as well as the history of the ceramics industry in Singapore.

Singapore Sikh Heritage Trail

Singapore Sikh Heritage Trail by Ishvinder Singh Sandhu is a mobile app project that documents and promotes the knowledge of local Sikh heritage. The trail maps out specific sites in Singapore that are related to the local Sikh community and its history. These sites include Gurdwara Sahib Silat Road, Pearl's Hill Upper and Lower Barracks, Changi Prison, Kranji War cemetery and Bukit Brown cemetery. The connection between each of these sites, local Sikh heritage and Singapore’s history are explained in a simple and engaging manner alongside relevant images.
