This showcase features items from the personal kit issued to British Army servicemen, including the Malay Regiment, during World War Two. The kit included a mess tin with cutlery as well as personal care items such as soap, a shaving kit and a sewing kit for repairing uniforms. These items were typically kept in a small fabric bag or wrapped in a fabric holdall with loops to secure the objects.
