This map was published by the Japanese newspaper Tokyo Nichinichi Shimbunsha on the eve of the invasion of Singapore. It depicts military resources and infrastructure around Singapore such as airfields, a naval base, gun placements, and offshore minefields. Although not wholly accurate, it conveyed to the Japanese public the idea that Japan was conquering an impregnable fortress.
