Join us for an exclusive workshop with Oniatta Effendi as we delve into the rich heritage of the kebaya.
Now recognised on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list, the kebaya is a beloved garment that has gracefully transcended generations and borders across Southeast Asia. Discover the kebaya’s journey – from its traditional roots to its contemporary expressions – while honouring its enduring role as a symbol of cultural identity and community.
The programme includes a hands-on session where participants will be guided through the fundamentals of fabric selection and Malay aesthetic principles of styling – an immersive exploration of how thoughtful choices bring form, function, and heritage together.
This programme is presented in conjunction with Singapore HeritageFest. The ticket price includes a specially curated goodie bag from Baju by Oniatta, featuring a drawstring pouch decorated with intricate traditional batik patterns and aromatic tea. Please note that photographs taken by the Museum during this workshop may be used for future publicity.
