This talk takes a different approach to the study of batik by surveying the complex journey of batiks created by three generations of the Oeij family into the collection of the Peranakan Museum.

This talk explores cultural exchange, adaptation, and evolution in architectural forms across Asia, with a particular focus on stupas, pagodas, toranas, and pailou.
