This October, join the National Museum of Singapore in marking its 138th anniversary with a spooky cute twist! In collaboration with local artist Ven (@vensroom), four curious creatures from our William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings – the koel, moonrat, mangrove snake, and grey-cheeked flying squirrel – have been transformed into imaginative illustrations, brought to life as whimsical and curious denizens of the day and night, adding a touch of playful spookiness for the season.

Embark on a stamp rally adventure from 11 – 26 October and uncover these animal friends across the Museum grounds, where each stop invites you to experience the exhibitions in fresh and engaging ways.

Collect stamps on daytime or nighttime themed cards and uncover fun insights as you journey through A Whale of a Tale, Singapore Odyssea, and Once Upon a Tide, along with a last chance to explore our Singapore History Gallery before it closes for our revamp on 17 November 2026. Don’t miss the whimsical photo wall on Level 2, where you can step into both day and night – from a charming daytime scene to a magical moonlit scene – complete with mirrors for playful snapshots against the Museum’s historic architecture. Visitors who complete the stamp rally on weekends can also redeem an exclusive koel plush bag charm at the redemption booth, available in limited quantities.

Come celebrate 138 years of stories, creativity and community at the National Museum of Singapore!

Mindfulness at the Museum Letters Through Time

Mindfulness at the Museum: Letters Through Time

18 Oct
2pm – 3.30pm
Reunion Social Space, Level 1
SGD 75 per pax (incl. GST)

Up to the 1980s, letter writers sat in Singapore’s bustling five-foot ways with portable desks, helping migrants who could not read or write to send heartfelt messages home. Before phones and emails, these handwritten letters were how people stayed in touch.

In this edition of Mindfulness at the Museum, take time to craft a letter to yourself using guided prompts from our facilitator, or perhaps a note to a loved one. Then, affix a wax seal on your letter, similar to how it was done in the past or simply as a decoration.

As the National Museum of Singapore celebrates its 138th anniversary, join us for an afternoon of personal reflection – honouring both our heritage and your relationships and milestones.

Ticket price includes all programme materials and a wax seal set for participants to take home. Suitable for ages 13 and above. Photographs taken during the programme may be used in the museum’s publicity materials.
