The National Museum stands as the nation's oldest museum and has been a steadfast custodian of Singapore's history and stories since opening in 1887. It is a cultural and architectural landmark, and was designated a National Monument of Singapore on 14 February 1992.

Discover Singapore's 700 years of history anew at our mainstay exhibition "Once Upon a Tide: Singapore's Journey from Settlement to Global City", and our immersive multimedia experience "Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time", as our Singapore History Gallery undergoes a revamp. The Singapore History Gallery will reopen in October 2026.

The main drop-off porch at our museum's entrance will be temporarily closed to vehicles from 6–9 Jan 2026 for maintenance works. Pedestrian access will not be affected. An alternative drop-off point for vehicles is available at our admin block entrance
